April 2021

Your name will appear in the Recital Program just as it appears at the top of this note.  If it is wrong, notify me immediately.

It is time to prepare for summer and fall classes.  I will send a Pre-Registration Card home with your child and ask you to fill it out and return it by Picture Day – April 16th.  This will be most helpful and appreciate your input.

CD’s have been sent home with all students.  We also sent MP3’s of all your Recital music via email. Please use them to practice!  If your CD does not work or you are unable to open your MP3, PLEASE let me know immediately!

RECITAL PICTURES will be taken at the Dance School on Friday, April 16th, 2021.  Please come inside before then and make an appointment.  Jim Haley Photography will be taking pictures again this year.  Pictures will be taken in your Recital Costume/Costumes for the 2021 Picture Composite to hang in the lobby.  No purchase is necessary to have your picture taken but picture packages are available for purchase on Picture Day.  You will be able to see your photos and pick your picture package that very day!  Cash, Check and Credit Cards will be accepted.

Hair and makeup for your Recital pictures is up to your discretion.  I want you to like your pictures.  Makeup is not necessary and if you choose to use makeup, use it sparingly and go for a natural look.  Do not apply stage makeup.

Starting April 16th, we will have Recital Program Ad forms available.  If you want to place an ad to “well wish” your dancer or advertise a business, be sure to start collecting ads.  We do have a Cover Kid contest.  The person with the largest $ amount in ad sales gets their picture in the cover of the Program Book.  If you purchase Recital pictures, you can use them in your ad. All ads are due by Saturday, May 1st at 12:00 noon.

RECITAL PREPARATION CLINIC   Thursday, April 22 at 6:00 pm

With the Recital season upon us, I realize that most of you have questions concerning costuming, hair, makeup, etc.  This clinic will address all your questions.

I will show you the What, When, and How of applying make up to your child’s face.  I will show you how to put their hair in a bun, (Buns are required for EVERYONE in Recital.) how to attach hats, headpieces, and answer any questions you might have about preparing your child for the stage.  All of this is very quick, easy, and painless if you know what to do.

This Clinic is free.  I highly recommend that all Moms attend - especially Class Parents and anyone doing this for the first time.  Even if you are a Recital veteran, you might still have questions or learn a new trick to make Recital Day easier.  Children are not required to come with you.  You may come by yourself or bring your child if you plan to experiment on them as we go along.  Wear comfortable clothes as we may be sitting on the floor.

A sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board.  You must sign up in advance.

More about Bunheads – Everyone should have their hair in a bun for Recital.  Now I know some of you are saying – “My child doesn’t have long enough hair for a bun.” (It really takes less hair than you think).  I realize this, and if your child has short hair, I will give you alternatives that will work.

Having everyone’s hair up looks extremely neat and polished and uniform for the stage; it works better with hats and headpieces; it is so quick and easy and will save you time and money on Recital Day.

RECITAL DAY is Saturday, May 8, 2021.  Dress Rehearsal is at 2:00 p.m. and show time is 4:00 p.m.  Both are held at The Grand Opera House. Recital volunteers are needed for jobs before, during, and after Recital.  See Cindy for more information.  Please help!  I need one Class Parent for each class to work backstage.  If you can work, please let me know immediately.  The May Bulletin will have a detailed schedule of that day.

A ticket is required to be part of the Recital audience. Everyone, no matter what age, will need to purchase a ticket.  (Dancers and backstage help do NOT need a ticket)

VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT RECITAL TICKETS – The Grand Opera House has control of all event ticket sales. Tickets will cost $12.00. You can purchase your tickets at the box office in advance, by phone, or online for an additional fee. You will be able to sit with your family and all others will be social distanced from you.  You will need to know in advance how many people are in your party and purchase all your tickets at the same time to sit together.

The Recital will be professionally taped this year by Jim Haley Photography. An order form will be in your May Bulletin.

Recital is in 4 weeks!! A good show depends on good attendance. Don’t miss class!

The school term ends on May 8th, 2021.  No classes after Recital.

Princess and Pirate Camp (ages 3-6) will be June 7th – June 11th.

Summer Classes will be June 14th – July 20th.

You do not want to miss out on Princess and Pirate Camp! If you checked any Summer Camps and/or classes on your Registration Card, I will send you notice with class times and tuition amount before Recital.  Your summer class tuition will be due by the first day of class.  If you are signing up for Princess/Pirate Camp, a deposit of ½ will be due before Recital with the balance payable the 1st day of camp.
